Bairnsdale Library
Project Type: New BuildingBuilding Type: Standalone
Completed: 2014
Bairnsdale Library was completed on 30 March 2015 and opened its doors to the public on 10 April 2015. The project was a respectful blend of the old heritage building (Mechanics’ Institute Hall) and a new building. Having outgrown their old space in the heritage building, Bairnsdale set out to expand their library in order to create a community meeting space where people could meet, study, learn, relax, and connect in a welcoming space. This new and updated space has created a vibrant, well-used community hub and allowed the library to increase programming to include regular movie sessions and IT based workshops.
